Droughts will definitely bring hardship to many people. Plants and farmlands will die off as a result of too much heat from the sun. The flow of the river and lake will reduce and irrigation that brings water to the farmland will dry up. Besides, wild animal will also suffer from the effect of the drought. The oasis and other source of water for the wild animals will dry up. Quite a good number of them will die of dehydration.
There will be terrible hurricane as the ocean is being heated up. Though, these are postulated as just future effect of global warming, they have started already to happen. Every day, we hear over the TV during the news hours of places that are washed down by floods or suffering from drought. So, global warming effects on weather have gone beyond postulation to the level of reality.
The earth is losing out its glaciers through global warming. Researches have confirmed that the glaciers are gradually melting away as the temperature of the earth’s surface is increasing. The melting of glaciers also sparks off some dangerous consequences. It can lead to flood especially within the surrounding. Secondly, as it is melting, the water flows into the sea leading to rise in the sea level.
Besides the rise in sea level caused by the melting glacier, high temperature can also cause rise in the sea temperature. From chemistry we learn that water expands when it is heated up. This is exactly what happens in the case of rising sea level. When the sea is exposed to higher temperature its waters will be warmer and thus expand. As they expand, the sea level will increase. But this is not the problem; the problem is that as the sea level increases the low lands will be submerged by the sea. People living in those areas will gradually be displaced.
Human beings are not left out. Anything that affects weather definitely affects man. If the weather is clement, man will be happy. But if the reverse turns out to be the case, man will suffer. Adverse weather condition can lead to the dead of many people. The national economy will be affected greatly because business will slow down. In years when winter is severe many people either do not go to their office or they come late to work.
When droughts, floods and heavy winds destroy our farmland, there will be no food left. Many people today have been rendered homeless through the action of floods and other natural calamities caused by global warming. Global warming in fact jeopardizes the existence of man.
Other animals and even marine lives also suffer from global warming. As have been said above, drought can kill a good number of animals and even some aquatic animals especially those that live in fresh waters like rivers and lakes. Domesticate animals will also suffer. If the master has no food, how can the servant think of eating?
